Extreme Environmental Testing Chambers for Medical Diagnostics
The environmental test chambers strictly adhere to the ASTM F1980 accelerated aging test and the IEC 60601-1 climate profiles
The Engineering Challenge
Medical electronics and In-Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) devices are zero-fault environments. A false positive on a blood analyzer or a failed connection in a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) risks human life. Exposing these devices to global shipping climates, biological storage conditions, or hospital sterilization introduces severe liabilities
Optical Condensation in IVD Analyzers
Diagnostic machines rely on hyper-sensitive photometers and optical lasers to read reagent reactions. When moved between cold hospital storage and warm, humid operating rooms, rapid temperature shifts cause micro-condensation inside the optical pathways. Even a microscopic layer of fog scatters light, leading to inaccurate diagnostic readings and fatal clinical misdiagnoses
Polymer Embrittlement (Shelf-Life Failures)
Sterile barrier packaging, catheters, and housing plastics chemically degrade over time due to oxygen, heat, and ambient humidity. Without executing mathematically precise Accelerated Aging (ASTM F1980) testing, polymers become brittle. When a doctor opens a sterile package, brittle plastics micro-fracture, instantly compromising the sterile boundary and risking patient infection
Autoclave Sterilization & Wearable Thermal Fatigue
Reusable surgical electronics and wearable biosensors face brutal thermal extremes. Wearables stuck to human skin endure sweat, humidity, and body heat, while surgical tools face 134°C pressurized steam during autoclave sterilization. This continuous, violent thermal expansion tears microscopic solder joints on internal PCBs, destroying the device long before its intended lifespan.
Why Medical devices need Climatic testing Chambers?
Accelerated Shelf-Life Aging (Constant Climate)
Sterile packaged devices (like catheters or diagnostic test strips) are placed into JCT Constant Temperature & Humidity Chambers. Running continuously at elevated temperatures (e.g., 55°C) for several weeks, the chamber accelerates chemical degradation. This empirical data definitively establishes the expiration date printed on the medical packaging for FDA submission
Operational Climatic Cycling (Alternating Temp/Humidity)
Active devices, such as portable ultrasound probes or wearable EKG monitors, are loaded into JCT Alternating Temp/Humidity Chambers. The system cycles through dynamic temperature and moisture shifts while the device is powered on. This verifies that sweat, body heat, and hospital AC transitions will not cause internal fogging or electrical drift
Sterilization & Autoclave Simulation (Thermal Shock)
Electronics housed within reusable surgical instruments face brutal temperature spikes. JCT 2-Zone Thermal Shock Chambers use a pneumatic basket to plunge components from ambient temperatures directly into +150°C extremes in seconds. This aggressive thermomechanical stress perfectly replicates the violent thermal fatigue of autoclave sterilization, ensuring internal PCBs never crack during surgical prep.
for Medical Testing We CAN Supply
ASTM F1980 Accelerated Aging, sterile barrier packaging validation, and pharmaceutical shelf-life stability (ICH guidelines)
Provides absolute, unwavering temperature (±0.5°C) and humidity (±2% RH) control required for valid Arrhenius calculations. Designed to run continuously for thousands of hours without interruption, ensuring your long-term FDA data sets are completely bulletproof
IEC 60601-1 operational cycling, IVD optical anti-condensation testing, and wearable biosensor sweat/humidity simulation
Features advanced laminar airflow to completely prevent condensation droplets from raining onto live, powered-on medical electronics. Effortlessly executes complex, multi-step humidity cycling profiles to simulate worst-case hospital or transit environments.
Autoclave sterilization simulation, surgical tool PCB fatigue, and implantable electronics thermal stress screening
Instantaneous thermodynamic shock. The pneumatic transfer basket plunges medical electronics from room temperature into +150°C extremes in under 10 seconds. Highly compact and laboratory-friendly, it violently accelerates the thermal expansion fatigue caused by hospital sterilization procedures, identifying latent solder defects instantly.

FAQ
Q1: We manufacture diagnostic devices with sensitive optics. How do we test for internal fogging?
You must run a cyclic test in a JCT Alternating Temp/Humidity chamber. By adjusting the chamber’s temperature and humidity to rapidly cross the dew point boundary, you force condensation to occur. This allows your engineers to validate the effectiveness of internal fans, desiccants, or lens heaters under real-world clinical conditions.
Q2: Can we run power and data cables to our wearable devices while they are inside the chamber?
Absolutely. All JCT medical test chambers feature specialized, hermetically sealed access ports (50mm or 100mm). You can route DC power, USB data cables, and biometric sensor leads directly to your devices while maintaining a perfect environmental seal, allowing for real-time live data monitoring during the test.
Q3: Our sterile packaging is very lightweight. Will the chamber's airflow blow it around?
No. JCT chambers utilize precise, low-velocity laminar airflow. This ensures absolute temperature and humidity uniformity across all shelves without creating turbulent winds that would disturb lightweight Tyvek pouches or blister packs.
Q4: For autoclave simulation on surgical tools, should we use a Rapid Rate Chamber or a Thermal Shock Chamber?
You should use a 2-Zone Thermal Shock Chamber. The 2-Zone pneumatic basket drops the parts into the extreme heat in seconds, accurately mimicking the sterilization shock.
Q5: Does the chamber software generate audit-ready reports for regulatory submissions?
Yes. The touch-screen controllers feature massive onboard data logging and USB export capabilities (CSV/PDF formats). The data includes timestamped temperature and humidity curves,
Q6: What calibration is provided to satisfy ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory requirements?
Every JCT chamber is factory-calibrated . We supply comprehensive calibration certificates, operation manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure your lab passes accreditation audits seamlessly.
Q7:how large are your cabinet models?
We offer internal volumes ranging from compact 50-liter benchtop units (ideal for small sensors and vials) up to massive 1000-liter floor-standing cabinets. A 1000L chamber easily accommodates several full-size IVD benchtop analyzers or hundreds of sterile packaging samples simultaneously.
