Successfully passed IP66 outdoor certification
Client Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Industry: Outdoor Electrical Enclosure & Cabinet Manufacturing
Core Challenge: Heavy weld spatter, metal warping from desert heat, and failing waterproof IP66 tests due to bad seams.
Solution Deployed: JCT Industrial Handheld Fiber Laser Welder
Key Result: 100% first-pass yield rate and successfully passed the strict IP66 outdoor certification.
The Challenge: Leaky Cabinets in the Desert Heat
Our client makes heavy-duty steel electrical cabinets for outdoor projects around Dubai. Out in the desert, weather is brutal. Cabinets face scorching sun, blowing sand, and heavy rainstorms.
Because of these harsh conditions, their clients demanded strict IP66 waterproof certification. But their old MIG welding setup was letting them down. Traditional welding put too much heat into the thin sheet metal. The cabinet panels warped and bent out of shape.
Worse, the welds were covered in spatter and tiny pinholes. During water spray testing, water leaked straight through the seams. The factory was failing IP66 tests over and over, and wasting piles of raw steel.
How We Fixed It with JCT Laser Welders?
The production manager talked to us looking for a cleaner, cooler way to join sheet metal without burning holes through it.
We delivered a JCT handheld fiber laser welding system tailored for metal fabrication shops.
Laser welding puts a tiny, focused heat beam on the metal. It melts the seam fast without baking the whole panel. We also trained their workers on how to set the power and wire feed speed for 1.5mm stainless steel sheets. No complex robot programming needed—just point and weld.
Real Results on the clientis's Shop Floor
Switching to laser welding fixed their quality problems almost overnight:
No More Warping: The laser heat is super local. The cabinet walls stayed totally flat, saving them hours of hammering and straightening.
Zero Spatter & Leaks: The weld seams came out smooth and solid. No pinholes, no gaps.
Passed IP66: They sent a new batch of cabinets to the testing lab and passed the IP66 water spray test on the very first try, hitting a 100% first-pass yield rate.
